Welcome to My New Website!

The new website is up and running!

As I explained before, the old site was mainly built for a blog. I added a couple other pages to it, such as links to my book, bonus chapter, etc, but realistically speaking it wasn’t meeting my needs any more.

Now I have a brand new online home, which showcases my books in a much better way. And I still get to have a blog! Yippee!

I’m still learning all the ins and outs of the new space. I can customize it further, add more pages, change a few things here and there, if I want. And although I had a bit of a learning curve to learn the back-end bits and bobs, it wasn’t too hard. This is a WordPress site, using the (not free) Authorcats theme. So transitioning from my WordPress blog to this new site was not too difficult.

Just a little word about Authorcats. I have been learning a lot about marketing from Nick Stephenson, an author who also does a lot of courses (both free and paid) for self-published authors. He really is a marketing guru. I have learnt a ton from his Your First 10,000 Readers course, that’s for sure. It’s not cheap by any means, but he gives you great value for what you get. I do wonder how he has the time to do all that he does and write books, too.

At any rate, he is the one who has put this Authorcats website idea together. Again, it is not cheap, but I would recommend keeping an eye out for the sales and specials he runs quite frequently. I managed to get on board during his New Year’s special sale and was very happy to do so. I got a website that is designed for authors who want to showcase their books and to sign people up for newsletters and build their audience that way.

It’s not cheap to hire a website designer, so keep that in mind if you are considering using Authorcats but think it is too pricey (don’t forget to look for the specials). They give you lots of help in getting things set up and going. It has been a great experience so far, to tell you the truth.

The only thing I’m a wee bit sad about is that previous followers of the blog will not get notifications of a new post unless they hit the follow button (below). For some reason it wasn’t possible to switch those followers to the new site. It took me a long time to get to 200 followers on the blog. I hope they all won’t get lost in translation! So if you followed my blog previously, please click the link below and my posts will continue to show up in your inbox, as before!

But overall, I’m excited to see the difference my site will make for my online exposure. Hope you like it!
